How often should you change your cat's litter?
SUCH a great question. Of course if it smells, you need to change it. If there was a situation (like diarrea), best to change it. Otherwise, it depends on the brand. Most brands recommend changing the litter twice a week, and others recommend changing the litter once every 2 - 3 weeks (like clumping formula litter).
How many litter boxes do I need?
The general rule is one litter box per cat in your household. If we think about it, why would our fabulous felines want to share? The mere smell of another cat’s urine may just be enough to have your cat go into a flat spin of frustration, and then answer the call of nature on your bed. So prevent this from happening and make sure every cat in your household has a loo to call their own.
Can I use rice instead of cat litter?
If you have rice on hand, it's much better to eat it, than use it as litter. Eish. For the reason being, it won't do anything to hide the smell of ammonia and remember what we said right at the beginning in regards to smell? So nope, no rice, please.
